Sorano

Sorano, like Pitigliano, is perched on a tuff cliff.

The houses seem to be nestled one upon the other, carved directly into the cliff.

The historic center is dominated by the imposing Orsini Fortress and the Masso Leopoldino, an ancient fortified cliff from the 18th century.

The northern gate leads into the village; from here, the main street branches off into a series of alleys and small streets that make the historic center unique.

Its structure has remained intact, and the village appears as it must have been in the Middle Ages.

The pleasure of visiting Sorano during the low season is indescribable. Strolling through the semi-deserted alleys, you breathe an air of another era, a truly evocative experience.
